4th grade Trial group and Jurors in front of our Court House after trial.
The 4th grade study group spent the year learning about our court system.  Students picked a fairy tale by evaluating the fairy tales and then deciding on one.  Each student had to think about who would be the best character to put on trial, then provide sustainable evidence.  Each student wrote alibi's and decided on what evidence to present in court.   Cast members just seemed to fall into place. We wrote the script together, at times, students needed a great deal of patience.  Especially when we had to piece the story together!  A Saturday practice was called!  We have a 5th grade mom that assisted us in obtaining some of our costumes, while the Mr. Spiders costume was created by family.  We choose a jury some of the members were from 4th grade and some from last years study group. (They truly understood the blood sweat and tears that go into a production like this!) Our court house was gracious to let us perform inside  court room 2!  Our audience was the 4th grade classes, parents, grandparents, teachers and our principal! One of our students Aunts is a officer in the court and she was attendance. Our County Sheriff was also also in attendance!  While our jury was deliberating, the Sheriff spoke to the students about the importance and value of our court system.  The verdict was in for the prosecution team, our defendant was handcuffed and taken away!  I am very proud of my students and the work they have completed this year.  I enjoy working with these creative and enthusiastic students!!!!
