First Grade Egyptian Cartouche, Dr. Seuss and 2nd Grade Research!

My first grade students have been learning about Ancient Egypt. Recently each student made his/her own name cartouche. We had fun learning about Hieroglyphics and understanding that not all the people in Ancient Egypt had cartouches attached to their sarcophagus, only the pharaohs or their family members. We will be making mummies to place in the sarcophagus this week.

The Dr. Seuss group just finished Dr. Seuss's "Horton Hears A Who," and all of those first graders pledged to be good stewards of all creatures! "A creature is a creature no matter how small!"

My second graders have continued their study on coral and are now researching the animals that are found in tidal pools.
