Daniels 2nd Annual Open Mic Poetry, a Snappy Event!

On November 23, 2010, Kindergarten students through 5th grade students shared their gift of original poetry with our school.  Parents, faculty and students enjoyed listening to their poems.  Instead of clapping, the audience snapped after each reading.  Poems were written in different forms, including  Free verse, and Cinquain.  A gallery was set up for viewing the poems before and after the reading.  Poetry provides the opportunity for students to play with words, it allows for creativity, and encourages the students to realize the power of words.  Words are a writers tool.  Our students did a tremendous job!
